Afghanistan Photographers Association
Established in 2016, the Afghanistan Photographers Association (APA) is a Kabul-based cultural and educational organization that is independent, non-profit, and non-political. Center to its arts-based and results-based approach, APA is committed to promoting the art and culture of photography by offering diverse programs, outstanding opportunities and benefits, and essential business resources to help photographers reach their full potential. APA has been paused since March 2023. There is no confirmed timeline for the resumption of its activities.
Photographer of the Year
APA’s Photographer of the Year Award recognizes an Afghan photographer for outstanding work in single photo or photo story throughout an annual photography competition. Any Afghan professional photographer can submit work to this competition and win, among other prizes, a generous cash prize. APA’s Photographer of the Year will be selected based on certain criteria by highly-experienced jury in the field. Applications for this Award opens in early 2022.
